In the main story, sasuke lost his family and his whole clan in one night but he was spared alive which sparked the hatred in him.He felt inferior to naruto and he made some dumbass decisions but his way of path was somewhat only justifiable. In contact to naruto in the SAME STORY whose parents died saving him after he was born, he didn't got any parents love, he was made a jinchuriki and others mocked him and made fun of him due to that. He too was desperate to make sasuke acknowledge him since his childhood, he also didn't had any friends until he grew up in total loneliness. Considering all this shit, naruto was most likely the one to be blinded by hatred and go on the path of wrongness bur he didn't!!
He was mentally strong and still cheerful thus was able to change himself unlike sasuke.
And here in the alternative timeline, sasuke is still the same hateful egoistic child, desperately hungry for power despite his parents, brother and clan being alive meanwhile naruto is still the same as the in the main story.
